Book Review: The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

I have struggled with messiness and clutter most of my life and I have tried all different types of methods. Some methods have worked...somewhat, but this simple method not only works, it's inspiring!!

The book is a quick and easy read and it's broken down into simple easy to follow steps, which helps to alleviate any anxiety about where and how to begin.  Where this method triumphs, for me at least, is the premise...keep only those things that bring you joy! Why didn't I think of that? She also explains why we shouldn't feel any guilt in getting rid of those things that don't bring joy, which is an area I've always struggled with - especially when it comes to gifts I've received.

I also love how she uses her own journey and struggles with organizing, as well as stories from some of her clients.  It's helpful to see the transformation. She also has a unique and kind way of relating to her things and her home.

Bottom line...I loved this book! So much so that I have already shared the book and it's Konmari Method with many friends and family members.  I highly recommend it!

Now, if only I could relate this information to my kids so they "get it"...le sigh...

Oh well, be blessed!

*By the way...I received this book from Blogging for Books  in exchange for my honest review.*

I have been really enjoying this book! I too struggle with getting rid of things that I "feel" like I should keep. I love how she words it something like, the item may have already fulfilled its purpose! I will be using her "does this item bring me joy" technique to get rid of more clutter!

Cami, thanks so much for your comment! I agree the "does this item bring me joy" technique has really helped me assess what should remain in my life. The local thrift store knows my face even more since I finished reading this book! Let me know how the rest your de-cluttering is going!
